Fara Ashiru Jituboh is the Co-founder, CEO and CTO of Okra a Nigeria-based fintech company which enable developers across the African continent to transform digital financial services and also secures exchange of real-time financial information between customers, applications, and banks. Jituboh was born in Nigeria but few years after, she went to the U.S and later studied computer science and software engineering at North Carolina A&T State University (an HBCU), and then held positions at JP Morgan Chase and Fidelity Investments as well as a few start-ups before co-founding Okra with David Peterside, the company’s chief operating officer.

In 2019, Jituboh temporarily moved back to the U.S. to have her son and stayed for about a year. During that time, she started using applications like Mint on her phone to manage her funds. Then she moved back to Nigeria and realized that none of these applications worked because they didn’t connect to Nigerian banks. “My financial literacy could never grow here,” she said. Jituboh started trying to connect her own bank accounts. That was the start of Okra.
