Fatima Babakura is the creative director and Founder of Timabee Inc, a premium women’s accessories brand. Fatima is born to Nigerian parents and started Timabee at the age of 19 and it has since grown to become a global brand with customers all over the world.
Growing up for fatima, her dream, like most African kids, was to become a medical doctor (a pediatrician to be precise), but Timabee was birth as a result of curiosity.
According to her “I had drawn a handbag on paper in the summer of 2013, and it just looked very different from the way handbags usually look. I fell in love with it and I really wanted to see what it looked like in reality. I didn’t know how to make handbags or even sew at the time, so I made it a mission to find someone to make me a sample. The rest they say is history”.
One unique quality of Timabee is that it currently has a bespoke section that allows the client to be a part of the design team for their handbag. You get to pick your leather, style and a whole lot more, which is really cool.
In just a couple of years of operation, Timabee has grown sporadically, and currently have customers from different part of the world like Qatar, Kenya, Dubai, London, USA, South Africa and so on.

She holds a Bsc honors Commerce degree from Canada’s prestigious McMaster University. Fatima has won so many awards which include listed as Nigeria’s top 100 most inspiring women, she was also included in Forbes Africa’s annual 30 Under 30 2022 list, which highlights the continent’s talents. WEF’s Iconic Woman in 2017.
